Organic Tummy Aid
Sweet, exotic, haunting with notes of fruit and a light spearmint finish
What makes our Organic Tummy Aid herbal tea so appealing? Is it the spearmint? The peppermint? The South African Honeybush? The answer is all of the above. Let's break it down to discover why.
Spearmint (Mentha spicata) – Native to Europe and parts of Asia, natural health practitioners believe that spearmint engenders a calming effect on the digestive system.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) – Often referred to as the world’s oldest medicine, Peppermint was used by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians as a nerve tonic and stimulant. The leaf can help soothe and calm nearly every complaint the digestive system throws at it.
Rosebuds – Roses have been used to flavor beverages since at least the days of the ancient Egyptians. Their addition to this blend adds subtle floral notes while stimulating the body's production of bile which in turn helps our stomachs to digest food efficiently.
Hibiscus – The petals of the hibiscus flower, one of the most beautiful exotic flowers on earth, has been used to make herbal teas from Mexico to Sudan. Worldwide, there are more than 220 known varieties of this stunning flower.
Osmanthus – A highly fragrant flower. On their own, they produce a rich, floral cup. As part of a blend, they add a well- balanced, herbaceous layer of flavor. Used as an herbal tea in China for millennia. Traditionally, osmanthus is used as an aid with digestion treating intestinal diseases and reducing the amount of stomach gas.
Chamomile – Arguably one of the world‟s most popular herbal teas, chamomile has been grown in Egypt since the days of the pharaohs. Known to aid digestion chamomile contains antispasmodic properties that help relax smooth muscles, such as those in the intestines and stomach. The herb is used to treat digestive conditions such as colic, gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps, indigestion, and irritable bowel syndrome, to name a few!
Honeybush (Cyclopia) – Native to South Africa, Honeybush is known in Afrikaans as “Heuningbos” The plant gets its name by virtue of the fact that the leaves produce a sweet, honey-ish tea. Similar in character to Rooibos, with added sweetness. The high presence of minerals and nutrients in honeybush tea helps to maintain a healthy digestive system.
Put all the above together and you've got an amazing cup of herbal tea alleviating all those tummy issues!
